Le Epitome Kennels was the first kennel in New Zealand to breed a blue Pug. Based in Waikato, we have continued developing our blue Pug lines through carefully planned breeding, with attention to colour, temperament, breathing, structure, movement and suitability for family life. Depending on the pairings planned and the puppies born, our programme may produce blue, blue fawn, blue and tan, or other blue-based Pug puppies for approved homes throughout New Zealand. Our Blue Pug Breeding Programme
Mia was the first blue Pug bred in New Zealand and marked the beginning of Le Epitome Kennels’ blue Pug programme. Since then, we have continued developing blue and blue-fawn lines through carefully selected dogs, including Storm, our blue-fawn male, together with selected chocolate-line Pugs that are confirmed to carry blue.
Working with several related but distinct lines gives us more options when planning future litters and helps us understand how colour, temperament, structure, movement and breathing develop across generations. Our aim is not simply to reproduce a rare colour, but to build a consistent line of affectionate, confident and functional Pugs suited to family life.
Blue is a dilute colour and can appear in several forms, including solid blue, blue fawn and blue and tan. Blue Pug Colours and Related Lines
Blue Pugs can appear in several different forms. Some have a more uniform blue-grey coat, while others may be blue fawn or display tan points. The exact appearance of each puppy depends on the combination of colour traits inherited from both parents.
Blue is produced by dilution of the underlying coat colour. When the blue dilution trait is combined with chocolate, it can produce the softer grey-brown colour commonly known as lilac. Le Epitome Kennels is continuing to develop these related lines as we work toward producing New Zealand’s first lilac Pug.

Available and Upcoming Blue Pug Puppies
Blue Pug puppies are not produced in every Le Epitome Kennels litter. Availability depends on the pairings planned, the colour traits inherited by each puppy and whether the puppies born are suitable for companion homes.

Our waiting list is based on suitability and thoughtful puppy matching, rather than operating strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. Le Epitome Kennels is based in Waikato and places puppies with approved homes throughout New Zealand.
