Rojo French Bulldog Puppies NZ
Rojo French Bulldogs are known for their rich chocolate-toned colouring, warm coat depth and distinctive expression. At Le Epitome Kennels in Waikato, New Zealand, rojo is part of our wider coloured French Bulldog breeding programme, alongside selected blue, Isabella, lilac, tan point, fawn, trindle and fluffy lines. While rojo colouring is highly sought after, our breeding decisions are never based on colour alone. We focus on health, breathing, temperament, structure, confidence and producing well-rounded French Bulldogs suited to family homes across New Zealand.
About Rojo French Bulldogs
Rojo French Bulldogs have a rich chocolate-toned coat that can appear warm, deep and distinctive, often with a softer red-brown appearance compared with cooler blue or lilac lines. Depending on the dog’s wider colour genetics, rojo may appear in different combinations, including rojo fawn, rojo and tan, rojo trindle, or other related patterns.
At Le Epitome Kennels, rojo is part of our long-term coloured French Bulldog programme. We value the depth and warmth of rojo colouring, but we do not treat it as the only measure of quality. A rojo French Bulldog should still be selected for temperament, breathing, structure, movement, confidence, family suitability and overall wellbeing.
Because rojo is part of a wider colour profile, DNA testing helps us understand which traits a dog expresses and which traits it may carry. This allows us to plan pairings carefully, while keeping the whole dog at the centre of each breeding decision.
Our Rojo French Bulldog Breeding Programme
Rojo is one of the standout colour lines in our French Bulldog programme, but each breeding decision starts with the whole dog. We consider DNA results, genetic diversity, breathing, structure, movement, temperament, patellas, family history and veterinary feedback before deciding whether a dog remains in our programme.
Nyx is one of the important rojo-line French Bulldogs in our breeding programme and represents the depth, character and type we value. We also look closely at what our rojo lines produce over time, including temperament, confidence, structure, coat tone, markings and family suitability.
Our aim is not simply to produce rojo French Bulldogs, but to continue developing rich, chocolate-toned French Bulldog lines with sound structure, confident temperaments and the distinctive Le Epitome look and character, for the betterment of the breed.
Rojo & Tan French Bulldog

New Shade Rojo French Bulldog
Rojo, Rojo Fawn, Rojo & Tan and Rojo Trindle French Bulldogs
Rojo French Bulldogs can appear in several different visual forms depending on the dog’s wider colour genetics. Some rojo French Bulldogs have a warm, rich chocolate-toned coat, while others may show rojo fawn, rojo and tan, rojo trindle, or related markings and patterns.
Rojo and tan French Bulldogs are especially striking because the warm chocolate-toned base can combine with tan point markings around the eyebrows, cheeks, chest, legs and under the tail. Rojo trindle lines can also produce a distinctive look, with brindle influence appearing in the tan points.
At Le Epitome Kennels, we consider how each colour presents in the real dog, not just what appears on a DNA report. Coat tone, markings, structure, head type, expression, movement and overall balance all contribute to the final look of a rojo French Bulldog. Our aim is to produce well-balanced French Bulldogs where the colour complements the quality, character and soundness of the dog.
Is a Rojo French Bulldog Right for You?
A rojo French Bulldog may catch your eye because of the colour, but colour does not determine temperament, suitability or the kind of companion a puppy will become. The right puppy for your home is the puppy whose individual temperament, confidence, energy level and needs are the best fit for your household.
At Le Epitome Kennels, we do not place puppies by colour alone. We look carefully at each puppy as an individual, including temperament, confidence, structure, breathing, movement and overall suitability. We also consider the home environment, lifestyle, family members, existing pets, experience level and what each buyer is genuinely looking for in a companion.
You are welcome to tell us that rojo is your preferred colour, but our first priority is matching the right puppy with the right person or family. A beautiful colour may be part of the appeal, but long-term fit, welfare and temperament are what matter most.
Rojo French Bulldog Availability in NZ
Rojo French Bulldog puppies are not available in every litter. Their availability depends on the genetics of the breeding pair, the number of puppies born, the colours produced, and whether each puppy is suitable for placement as a companion.
At Le Epitome Kennels, we do not place puppies by colour alone. If you are interested in a rojo French Bulldog, you are welcome to tell us your preference, but we will also consider temperament, structure, breathing, confidence, household suitability, timing and overall fit before confirming a puppy placement.
Because rojo French Bulldogs are highly sought after, joining our waiting list is the best way to stay informed about future litters. We recommend staying open to the right puppy rather than focusing only on one exact shade, marking pattern or colour combination.
Rojo French Bulldog FAQ
What is a rojo French Bulldog?
A rojo French Bulldog has a rich chocolate-toned coat colour. The exact appearance can vary depending on the dog’s wider colour genetics, markings and coat pattern.
Is rojo the same as chocolate?
Rojo is often described as a jaffa toned chocolate colour, but colour genetics can be more specific than everyday colour names. At Le Epitome Kennels, we use DNA testing to understand what each dog expresses and carries, rather than relying on colour labels alone.
Can rojo French Bulldogs be rojo and tan?
Yes. Rojo and tan French Bulldogs can have tan point markings around areas such as the eyebrows, cheeks, chest, legs and under the tail. Availability depends on the genetics of the breeding pair and the individual litter.
Does rojo colour affect temperament?
No. Colour does not determine temperament. We assess each puppy as an individual and consider confidence, energy level, structure, breathing, movement and overall suitability before recommending a puppy for a particular home.
Are rojo French Bulldogs always available?
No. Rojo French Bulldog puppies are not available in every litter. Availability depends on the breeding pair, the colours produced, the number of puppies born and whether each puppy is suitable for placement as a companion.
