A MUCH-LOVED REPEAT PAIRING
Dita × Black Douglas French Bulldog Litter
We are delighted to repeat the Dita × Black Douglas pairing after being very pleased with the temperament, confidence, structure and overall character seen in their previous litter. That litter produced Mickey, our homebred red blue fawn French Bulldog stud, and gave us valuable first-hand information about how these two bloodlines work together.
Why We Chose to Repeat This Pairing
A repeat pairing allows us to build on real experience rather than relying only on pedigree predictions. The earlier Dita × Black Douglas litter gave us useful information about temperament, development, movement, structure and colour inheritance.
Mickey is an important example of that combination. He developed into a confident, attractive and well-balanced homebred stud with the qualities we value in a companion French Bulldog.
Repeating the pairing does not guarantee that every puppy will be identical to the earlier litter. Each puppy will inherit a different combination of genes and will be assessed individually for health, breathing, confidence, temperament, movement, structure and suitability for family life.
About Dita
Dita is our chocolate fawn French Bulldog dam, with subtle darker points and a warm, expressive appearance. She contributes qualities from lines we know directly through our own breeding programme.
Her previous litter with Black Douglas gives us meaningful information about her maternal performance, recovery, the development of her puppies and the way her genetics combine with his imported bloodlines.
About Black Douglas
Black Douglas is an external sire used through carefully stored imported semen. He brings established Hungarian bloodlines and contributes pedigree diversity that would otherwise be difficult to access within New Zealand.
His dark coat, rich golden eyes and family background make him a distinctive match for Dita. His pedigree information and the results observed from the earlier litter are considered alongside Dita’s own qualities when assessing this pairing.
What We Learned From the Previous Litter
The earlier litter showed us that Dita and Black Douglas can produce confident, visually striking puppies with strong companion character. Mickey remains part of our breeding programme and gives us an opportunity to observe the pairing’s outcome beyond the puppy stage.
That longer-term observation is valuable. It allows us to consider adult temperament, movement, structure, breathing, maturity and overall family suitability rather than assessing the pairing only at birth.
Possible Puppy Colours
Depending on which genes each puppy inherits, this pairing may produce blue-, cocoa-, lilac- and fawn-based puppies. Recessive-black patterning may also be possible.
The number, sex, coat colour, pattern and eye colour of the puppies cannot be confirmed before birth and, where necessary, DNA confirmation. Colour is part of the interest in this pairing, but it does not take priority over temperament, breathing, movement, structure and suitability as a companion dog.

We assess this pairing using all available information, including DNA results, pedigree, known family history, previous offspring, temperament, breathing, movement, structure and reproductive performance.
